Pablo Sandoval was named the MVP of the series, he is a soft spoken big man that can hit when he has to and play a mean third base. He shouted to a wall of camera men, "This is my second championship in three years but I earned this one more." He was clutch several times throughout the postseason, keeping them alive in deciding games and hitting big time hits when it mattered the most. Just to throw a couple of numbers in there, he hit three home runs in his first three at-bats and finished with a .500 average. If those aren’t convincing numbers i don’t know what is.
A lot of things went right for them in this series, but probably the best was when Marco Scutaro hit the go ahead double in the top of the 10th inning to seal the victory for them. Another thing that fell into the Giants favor was the All-Star slugger for the Tigers Prince Fielder going cold in the series. Everything just fell right in the Giants lap and they just attacked and kept playing hard nosed baseball and it all paid off in the end. Bruce Bochy says to the Washington Post, “These guys made it easy”, “They never complained. They just wanted to win.”
In conclusion, this was indeed the second title for the Giants in three years. They are a balanced baseball team with consistent hitting, pitching, and coaching. They might have started the season but all that matters is they got hot at the end when it’s all that matters. That just goes to show you that it’s not about how you start, but how you finish.
Not a big fan baseball but congrats to the Giants
